At Tile Hill, we take pride in our commitment to charity, good causes, and making a positive impact in our local communities.

This year, we are excited to announce that our chosen charity is Mind. As advocates for mental health, we recognise the importance of supporting organisations that work tirelessly to improve mental well-being. We understand that mental health struggles are pervasive, directly, or indirectly impacting us all in various ways. Whether it's a friend, family member, or ourselves, the challenges are widespread. We are eager to raise funds for Mind and contribute to their cause, knowing that every donation plays a crucial role in creating a positive impact on the lives of those struggling with mental health issues. This collective effort is a testament to our commitment to fostering a community that values and prioritises mental well-being.

Embarking on this mission, our team is determined to make a meaningful impact over the next 12 months, we aim to raise £10,000 for Mind through a variety of challenges, activities, and events. Our journey begins in February, where our team will be taking part in ‘To Tile Hill and Back’ covering the equivalent of 97 miles as many times as possible. This initiative not only symbolises our commitment but also signifies the collective strides we’re taking to support mental well-being.

We believe that giving back is not just a responsibility but a privilege, and we actively encourage our team to participate in charitable activities. To support this commitment, each of our employees is encouraged to take volunteering days throughout the year. We are acutely aware of the inequality in society, and beyond the work we do with public bodies to provide leadership that delivers meaningful change, we also believe it is our responsibility to use our time, skills, and fundraising capabilities to the benefit of others. We understand the importance of contributing to the well-being of our communities, and we believe in the importance of creating an environment where our teams are supported to make a meaningful impact.

In addition to individual volunteering days, we organize team charity days to foster a sense of unity and collaboration among our team. Last year, our team spent a sunny day at Sitopia Farm, where we enthusiastically lent a hand (or green thumb) to support this wonderful organisation. It was a day filled with camaraderie, shared goals, and the satisfaction of contributing to a cause that aligns with our values.

Giving back is not just a corporate initiative for us – it is at the very heart of Tile Hill. We believe that by actively participating in charitable activities, we can make a difference in the lives of individuals and communities. Here's what some of our team members had to say about their volunteering experiences:

‘Volunteering matters to me because it allows me to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. I have met some amazing, inspirational, and selfless people doing the volunteer work that I do. It has given me the unique opportunity to connect with my community and contribute to causes I'm passionate about (mental health and homelessness). The sense of fulfilment from helping others is unparalleled, making volunteering a deeply rewarding experience in my life, I look forward to doing more in 2024.’
Sarah Humphreys

‘Giving back to society, in whatever way you can, has been a value that I was taught from a young age by my grandparents and Is a big part of the culture I grew up. I've strived to give back to every community I've experienced, whether that's through my travels or In London and been fortunate enough to meet some of the most resilient adults and children with some really moving stories. Whilst volunteering opens your eyes to how fortunate you are, It’s the people you meet and the difference you can make to someone else's life that Is truly Inspirational and motivates me to continue to give my time

‘The importance of volunteering is something that means a lot to me. During a recent experience for me spending time in Birmingham with the homeless community has really highlighted how fortunate I am to have the support of family, friends and Tile Hill and that unfortunately members of our society do not have that luxury, it’s the little things that make a difference to some fabulous individuals who have found themselves in difficult situations.’
 – Helen Alwell

‘Volunteering holds a special place in my heart. The knowledge that our efforts, no matter how small, contribute to helping others is truly rewarding. Mind, a charity close to my heart, epitomises the significance of mental well-being, and I am thrilled to dedicate my time and energy to raising funds for them over the next year.
