Job Description

The West Yorkshire Pension Fund (WYPF) is a local government pension scheme, founded in 1974. The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council is the administering authority for the fund. At the end of March 2020, WYPF had 294,447 members and 451 employers. Although we are based in West Yorkshire, the fund serves a range of different employers across the nation and we have big plans for our future growth.
  
Following a review of WYPF’s organisational and pay structure for investment and administrative staff, in 2020 we began to implement our new people structure. As a result, the brand new role of Assistant Director, Finance, Administration & Governance has been created to lead the integration of the fund’s operational administration functions, providing exemplar support to encourage an excellent standard of service and growth across our shared service offering.
  
Reporting to the Director of WYPF, as Assistant Director you will hold strategic accountability for the areas of Member Services; Employer Services & Compliance; Financial Control; Governance & Business Development; and Projects, Communications & IT to ensure continued delivery of excellent service quality. Working closely with key external partners, as well as Elected Members and numerous external Pensions Boards and committees, you will work hard to develop our Shared Service Pensions Administration to deliver improved service quality at a reducing cost.
  
With a relevant qualification and/or a proven track record of managing all aspects of a Local Government Pension Scheme, you will have a strong understanding of the local government context and associated pension funds. You will possess strong political nous and be able to work closely with multiple partners from varying organisations to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  
This is a unique opportunity to influence an already high-performing pension administration service. As a provider of administration to four LGPS funds and 19 Fire & Rescue Authorities, you will play a leading role in directing the fund to ensure we continue to attract new clients while maintaining and improving service quality at a reducing cost.
