We're seeking an Assistant Director of Finance to join our leadership team and manage our diverse financial portfolio. About the Role
As Assistant Director of Finance, you'll lead a respected team of professionals across finance, procurement, and insurance services. You'll serve as Deputy Section 151 Officer and have oversight of our Housing Revenue Account, General Fund, and a number of our commercial ventures. The role offers the opportunity to have direct involvement in one our joint ventures, development partnerships, and innovative funding arrangements.
Working closely with our senior leadership team, you'll play a major role in supporting many of our priorities with the Finance Team s. You will play a monitoring role to our £37.5m Towns Fund award and other major government funding streams.
What We're Looking For
You will need to bring strong technical local government finance expertise, leadership and a willingness to roll your sleeves up to ensure we deliver what we set out to. You'll need knowledge and understanding of HRA funding mechanics, capital finance, and general fund management. We're seeking someone who combines technical capability with natural curiosity and creative problem-solving skills.
You'll thrive in our collaborative, consensus-driven culture where building strong relationships across services is essential. Our ideal candidate will be technically sound, approachable, able to challenge constructively while working towards shared solutions as part of the leadership team.
