We believe in Basildon as a place of opportunity where hard work and community contribution are the signposts for success. A Basildon where our children and young people can flourish, enjoying fulfilling and active lives of aspiration and achievement. A Basildon we can all be proud of with a safe, clean public realm, regenerated town centres, high quality public services and outstanding infrastructure. This is our blueprint for Basildon.
As our new Assistant Director, Policy, Partnerships & Communications, you’ll manage the Council’s Policy and Strategy Delivery; Communications, Events and Public Affairs. Reporting to the Executive Director, Growth & Partnerships, you’ll play a leading role in the promotion of the Basildon brand by building the right partnerships and proactively promoting the borough to manage and continually improve Basildon’s reputation. You’ll campaign locally, regionally and nationally on the things that matter to Basildon and our residents. You’ll also implement an exemplary corporate communications strategy and manage our public affairs and media relations through narrative building and storytelling.
Basildon Borough Council is at the forefront of innovation and transformation, committed to delivering outstanding services that make a real difference in the lives of our residents. We are a determined, ambitious, and forward-thinking local authority, driven by a passion for excellence and a determination to be a leader in public service. As a council, we are not just reacting to change—we are actively shaping the future of our community, ensuring that Basildon continues to thrive and grow.
It’s a hugely exciting role. The right candidate will have extensive leadership experience across a range of cross-cutting disciplines, with a particular interest in policy and strategy development, campaigning communications and partnership development. You’ll have likely worked in a council in the past – perhaps a combined authority – and you’ll understand how to balance external growth with major internal transformation. This is a unique opportunity to inspire and invigorate our workforce, our partners, and our communities and transform our council and borough for the better.
Closing date: Sunday 29th September at Midnight
