Thurrock’s growth strategy includes £20billion of investment in jobs, homes and infrastructure; 1,000 acres of land ready for business development; three international ports along 18 miles of riverfront, just 30 minutes from central London by train; and the creation of 24,500 new jobs. Thurrock is the largest regeneration area in the UK, with six major growth hubs in the borough alone.
In support of these ambitions, we seek a new Assistant Director for Regeneration & Place Delivery to develop and deliver the Council’s enormous regeneration and capital delivery portfolio. Following a period of change as a result of a restructure within the directorate, we need a true leader of people to bring innovation and inspiration to our technical teams. You will have the scope to build out your resources and develop people to create a culture of excellence, all whilst ensuring our diverse range of small to major projects and schemes are well managed, governed and fit for purpose in alignment with our growth plans.
As Assistant Director, you will be overseeing all of Thurrock’s local place-based growth and regeneration initiatives. Reporting to the Corporate Director for Resources & Place Delivery, you will also collaborate with Elected Members and key partners across the borough to ensure our local strategies are delivered to the highest standard. You will play an integral role in driving our exciting regeneration plans, which include vast improvements to Grays town centre; a major housebuilding and economic development scheme in Tilbury; the Thames Enterprise Park development; and the £1bn investment programme in Purfleet.
