Job Description

Extraordinary, energetic and enterprising. Bradford District is modern Britain at its best.

We have huge ambitions for Bradford District. As the UK’s youngest city, home to half a million people, globally connected and with a third of our residents from ethnic minorities, our youth and diversity are already paying dividends by attracting high profile employers, policy makers and investors in recognition of their ability to drive innovation and business growth.

Bradford is a great place for businesses to start-up and thrive. According to Barclays, Bradford district is the best place to start a high growth business in the UK, offering a talent pool of young digital natives with global reach alongside high export rates, a strong manufacturing base and a longstanding culture of enterprise amongst its assets. Our businesses are among the most productive in the UK and as diverse as our population, with around one in six owned by ethnic minorities whose international connections offer competitive advantage and opportunity.

A pipeline of high profile regeneration projects will contribute to transformational change, building on our award-winning City Park and the Broadway shopping centre. We are placing culture at the heart of our plans, bidding for City of Culture 2025 to reflect our status as a place with both a rich cultural history and heritage and a diverse and thriving contemporary offer. Beyond the city of Bradford itself, the district includes large and distinctive towns such as Keighley and Shipley, which are set to benefit from the Stronger Towns fund.

We need a strong, experienced and skilled leader to Chair our Economic Partnership Board and build on our growing track record of delivery. As Chair of the Bradford Economic Partnership, you will have proven non-executive experience and, ideally, previous Chair experience. This role will revolve around building and fostering brilliant relationships across Bradford district and beyond, so you will be a great communicator with an ability to form lasting partnerships with our key partners, which include the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, University of Bradford, Bradford Chamber of Commerce and Bradford Means Business.

You will also lead on influencing key stakeholders at the highest levels of business and government, so an ability to leverage national relationships for the benefit of Bradford will be vital in this post. You will possess first-rate ambassadorial skills, an innovative and commercial mindset, and will provide vital leadership and strategic oversight of this dynamic initiative to realise the full potential of Bradford.

If you possess the skills and experience we seek and share our passion for realising the potential of Bradford as a world-class district, we would love to hear from you.
