Job Description

At Surrey County Council, we believe that property can play a key role in unleashing improvements and transformation in our front line services. And, we’re building a team with the skills, attitude and drive to deliver a step change in the performance of Surrey’s Land and Property.

The Opportunity

Client Account Managers play a lead role in the council’s Corporate Landlord function, acting as the main point of contact between property services and our service departments. In this case, as Client Account Manager for Children’s Services, you will be the senior representative between our property service and Surrey County Council’s Children’s Services teams.

Client Account Managers are exciting and newly created roles within Land and Property. They present a real opportunity to transform both the performance and reputation of our services and you will work closely with Children’s Services leaders to ensure that their service needs are reflected in the council’s capital programme. As such, previous experience of working on the property needs of children’s social care would be highly beneficial to enable you to hit the ground running in developing this programme.

Children’s Services

As the Client Account Manager for Children’s Services you will play a genuine role in shaping the future for Surrey’s children and families so they get the best outcome in life. Our work in Children’s services includes safeguarding; special educational needs and disability (SEND); early help and a number of cross cutting workstreams and themes. Consequently, there is a large building programme to ensure the estate meets the modern requirements of the service.

One of the core needs of the service is to make a step change in delivering a wider provision of options and supporting this will be a primary focus. Although it may not be necessary to hold a professional qualification linked to property, having knowledge and experience of operating from a property perspective within Children’s services is an essential criteria.

About you

We are looking for applicants with expertise in service delivery to a high quality as well as delivering transformative change at pace.

As a Client Account Manager in our newly formed Land and Property function, you will have:

  • A proven track record of successfully building and maintaining client relationships in a property environment.
  • Experience of delivering transformative programmes of work within an operational estates context, including strong project/change management experience.
  • A detailed understanding and working knowledge of the function of the Corporate Landlord and regulatory compliance.
  • A flexible, creative and innovative approach to your work.
  • Relevant knowledge and understanding of property and estates legislation and governance.
  • Knowledge of Children’s Services from a strategic asset management perspective

A key quality of successful applicants will be to possess credibility and gravitas coupled with the right approach to influence and maintain strong relationships with all major stakeholders. Coupled with this, we want you to energise and galvanise staff, partners and stakeholders to deliver against Surrey’s challenges.

If you’ve got the vision, confidence and expertise to help Surrey County Council to deliver these projects and realise our ambition, we’d love to hear from you. To find out more and for details of how to apply visit
