Job Description

SOMEWHERE TO CALL HOME

At Brent, we are absolutely committed to building high quality, affordable homes, to make a practical difference to peoples’ lives and tackle health inequalities, overcrowding and general housing unsuitability & inadequacy. We want to have built 1700 homes by 2028, and we are well underway with hundreds under construction plus a healthy pipeline in planning and feasibility stages. We have a further target of 4,000 homes to be built by partners over the same period.

Joining as our new Head of Affordable Housing and Partnerships, you will be working with a Council building the most affordable homes in London. There is an enormous amount of political and corporate support to providing residents with truly affordable homes. We recently received £111m grant from the Greater London Authority and we are trusted to deliver.

This is a strategic, and high-profile role which will provide you with plenty of learning and development. With a proven track record in development within a local authority or housing association setting, you will be commissioning and working closely with those building affordable homes. You will demonstrate outstanding relationship management skills to work with partners and encouraging investment in Brent.

This is a fantastic role for an ambitious person who genuinely wants to make a difference for communities and deliver high-quality homes in a supportive and enabling environment.

Brent Council values the diversity of its community and aims to have a workforce that reflects this and therefore encourage applications from all sections of the community. We positively encourage all applicants to self-identify their characteristics in the diversity survey section in the application.

We are committed to safer recruitment and safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants should be aware that posts working with children, young people and vulnerable adults are subject to an Enhanced DBS check as well as other employment clearances.

Brent has a positive approach to flexible working.
