At the heart of the borough lies the UK’s home of cyber, digital and creative sectors – a national first – which will deliver an extensive cyber innovation hub to provide better investment in homes, jobs and infrastructure, enabling us to deliver more inclusive growth for our communities.
At this point in our growth journey, we seek a Head of Construction to join the council’s leadership team. As Head of Construction, you will play a pivotal role in leading the delivery of the Golden Valley Development scheme. This is a vital post that will drive key outcomes for Cheltenham and our residents by delivering this exclusive and world-renowned scheme to help create 12,000 new jobs, 3,700 new homes and 2million sq. ft. of commercial space across 200 acres. A major part of this will be - a visionary integrated campus focused on cyber and digital innovation. The Golden Valley Development is just one of many exciting projects that are currently underway across Cheltenham.
In this role, relationship building is essential. You will develop strong working relationships with our Director of Major Developments & Regeneration, the council’s construction delivery team and, importantly, our major Golden Valley development partner, HBD X Factory. This role will require input from various avenues and, as Head of Construction, you will be at the forefront of this, leading a team of construction specialists to lead a diverse range of capital and development projects to success.
To be effective in the role, you will bring a track record of construction management experience, with proven experience of leading the back-end construction stages of large and complex programmes of works. Whether your experience and background stems from a local authority, housing association or the private sector, you must be considerate towards the political environment that comes with the territory of operating within a local authority.
