Job Description

It’s not often you get to take control of a project this large and this important. You’ll be a driving force behind developing our health integration policy - one of the largest scale health and social care integration initiatives in the UK. You’ll develop key relationships with senior stakeholders, you’ll advise and influence them on every detail, and you’ll coordinate the teams, partners and services to ensure our transformation happens. Which is why your understanding of policy and governance in health and social care, your genuine interest in what these services mean to our residents and your outstanding ability to organise and influence whilst remaining flexible, are key to our success. Can you keep us moving forward?

About You

Working collaboratively with senior colleagues to develop the council’s strategic approach to health and social care integration, you will bring the knowledge and experience to provide expert insight, strategic advice and policy that can guide decision making and drive our integration plans forward. In addition, you will support the development of our devolution plans and lead on the active promotion and delivery of our Health and Wellbeing Strategy within this context. Ultimately, you will bring the skills, knowledge, experience and approach that will allow you, in collaboration with our Corporate Leadership Team, to design and implement a strategic plan for transforming the system architecture and moving towards a single, fully integrated leadership of the health and care system in Surrey.

About Surrey:

Surrey County Council is an ambitious organisation, with a focus on standing up for the interests of Surrey residents, ensuring they get the services they need and deserve. It's no secret that this is getting increasingly difficult to achieve and we have our own unique set of challenges. SCC has been on a significant transformation journey, achieving £188m of efficiencies between 2018 – 2020.

Demand for our services has continued to rise while central government funding has decreased. The relative economic success of the county has led to our having the busiest roads outside central London, with the additional cost that involves. We have the highest number of people with learning disabilities and growing levels of special educational needs. Our older population is set to grow by 20,000 over the next few years, while growing pupil numbers in our schools mean we have to find an additional 11,000 school places by 2020.

We are working to develop a radically new model of public service delivery: using our economic levers to restore vitality, creating more localised, sustainable ways of living, travelling and working and new models of community engagement at the hyper-local level. We have bold ambitions for our people, including building on our health devolution status with Surrey Heartlands ICS to further integrated health and social care to tackle the widening health inequalities in Surrey.
