Job Description

Southend Care is evolving, and we are seeking a Managing Director to lead us forwards. As a specialist provider of care and support services in Southend, we have established a reputation for delivering high quality services and making a positive difference to the quality of life of to those we support. Our vision is to be the premier provider of care services in South Essex region, and our Managing Director is integral to realising this vision.
  
Southend Care Ltd (SCL) is a dynamic and forward-thinking Local Authority Trading Company wholly owned by Southend City Council (SCC). It has a £9 million annual turnover, employs 350 staff, and supports over 1000 customers per year. Trading since April 2017 its performance has exceeded business plan expectations both financially and operationally. SCL has a unique and special relationship with Southend City Council being the company the council turns to in the first instance for additional transfer of business. 
  
Our new Managing Director will lead our Company into the next phase in its development, building on the strong foundation that has already been laid. As our Managing Director, you will bring an unrelenting focus on the quality of service we provide and promote a positive work environment that embodies our values and empowers staff. Importantly, you will build a strong working relationship with the executive leadership team and recognise the professional expertise they bring to Southend Care, empowering them and listening to their views.
  
You will have experience working at board level in a similar company and be able to demonstrate how you will lead our organisation forward as Managing Director. We seek someone with a strategic outlook and commercial brain. Ideally you will understand the services we provide, either from a career in care or from leading commercial organisations that provide a range of care services. It is important that you understand the regulatory environment we operate within and can evidence where you have led the commercial growth of an organisation in a similar setting.
  
As our Managing Director you will be excited by working with our shareholder, Southend City Council. As our single Shareholder and Strategic Partner for service delivery, you will understand the need to prioritise this relationship and be able to demonstrate how you will work successfully with Elected Members and Council officers. You will demonstrate a desire to work closely with SCC and build effective relationships with key stakeholders and balance company priorities with Council priorities.
