This is a newly created role at the heart of Walsall’s £1.5bn transformation. At the heart of the Council’s vision is a commitment to celebrating the borough’s cultural identity and attracting visitors, talent, and investment. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a visionary and commercially minded individual to define and deliver Walsall’s cultural and visitor offer.
The postholder will lead the development of ambitious strategies for culture, leisure, and tourism, harnessing Walsall’s New Art Gallery, Walsall Arena & Arts Centre, museums, parks, sports facilities, and green spaces to drive regeneration, strengthen community pride, and boost economic growth. They will position Walsall as a distinctive destination within the West Midlands and beyond, celebrating the borough’s creativity and heritage while attracting new audiences and investment.
As part of the Council’s Senior Management Group, the Head of Culture, Leisure & Visitor Economy will play a key role in shaping how Walsall’s places grow and thrive. They will champion innovation, build strong partnerships across the public and private sectors, and ensure the visitor economy plays a central role in the borough’s wider growth agenda.
This is a rare opportunity to shape a new service, define its strategy, and make a visible impact on a borough undergoing change.
