Interim Director of Regeneration & Sustainable Communities

A local authority is seeking an experienced Interim Director to provide senior leadership and support to the Executive Director during a period of organisational change.
  
The post will oversee a broad portfolio encompassing regeneration, economic development, and planning, ensuring effective service management, transparency, and strong programme and project governance. This interim appointment will play a pivotal role in maintaining strategic continuity ahead of a wider directorate reorganisation scheduled for early 2026.
  
Key priorities over the next six months include:

• Ensure delivery of their major regeneration schemes against key milestones and programme objectives
• Implementing a peer review action plan
• Delivering improvements across planning-related functions, including a resourcing review
• Securing and analysing economic data to inform a future economic strategy and action plan
• Developing sustainable operational solutions for key community assets managed within the regeneration portfolio
• Leading service planning and embedding robust governance processes for project delivery

  
This assignment requires a proven senior leader with strong political acumen, experience operating at Director level within local government, and a track record of driving improvement and delivery in complex service areas.
