Interim Monitoring Officer

We’re supporting a local authority in the South West seeking an experienced Director of Legal & Democratic Services to provide senior leadership during a period of transition.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in;

• Legal challenges
• Committee‑system governance
• Democratic decision‑making
• Elections
• Information governance
• Complaints
• Transactional services.

A legal qualification is essential due to the Monitoring Officer responsibilities.
This will lead a stable team of five direct reports and play a key role in supporting the council’s governance and assurance functions.
