What’s your background?

I have nine years recruitment experience, having initially started my career with Michael Page before moving to Penna in 2013. Since then I have focussed on executive interim recruitment within the public with a strong track record of senior and transformational interim placements in Local Authorities. I was voted Leading Consultant in the 2016 Institute of Interim Management recruitment survey and have featured as a Top Consultant each year since 2015. For the last three years I was a Director of Penna’s Public Sector Interim Practice.

Why did you decide to join Tile Hill?

Having helped grow Penna’s public sector interim practice to be one of the largest providers of senior interims into Local Government, I wanted to take on a fresh challenge and to be part of something that was going to approach senior recruitment in a modern way. David Weir and Tile Hill have quickly built a strong profile in the sector and this is built on a set of principles that speak to my values. Tile Hill has a very strong vision of how it wants to engage with clients and candidates, what the experience of working with Tile Hill will feel like, and importantly how that benefits the end client/candidate. We think that senior recruitment can be modernised whilst protecting the need for structured and fair processes. I am really excited to be working with David, Mark and the wider team and to build on the existing momentum.

Tell us more about your role at Tile Hill?

My role at Tile Hill will be working alongside David and Mark to help grow and build Tile Hill into a leading provider of senior recruitment in the public sector. Each Director will bring their own experiences and views on recruitment and this will be harnessed to constantly review and improve on the experience we provide. A lot of my time will be spent building relationships with clients and candidates, proactively developing talent pools to meet our clients' upcoming talent issues and delivering on a wide array of interesting search and interim mandates. In addition to this, it will be to ensure that we have a lot of fun as a business along the way. Whether you work alongside us, or for us, we want the experience to be inclusive, fun, and entrepreneurial.

What will you be bringing to the table?

A love of exercise, and a resolute determination to make Tile Hill into the leading provider of executive recruitment in the public sector. Having worked in the sector for the last seven years I have a strong track record of partnering with local authorities, charities, LEPS, and housing associations to meet their resourcing requirements. Whether these are interim Chief Executives or transformation consultants with specific experience, I have always worked tirelessly to be known for understanding my clients, candidates and how to meet their individual requirements.

What’s your approach to recruitment?

Be yourself, be honest, do what is right for your clients and candidates rather than yourself. What we do is not rocket science and if you have an interest in people and what is important to them, then you are able to support them.

What's the soundtrack to your working life?

Knee Deep (featuring Jimmy Buffet) by the Zac Brown Band.

What's your top business tip?

Be yourself and comfortable with who that is.

What would your autobiography be called?

‘Hangovers are a state of mind’.
