Autism Together

Head of IT

Location: Bromborough, Merseyside (onsite at least 3 days per week)
Salary: c. £60,000 per annum (some flexibility, with the option for condensed hours – 4 days instead of 5)
Contract: Permanent

About Autism Together
Autism Together is a long-established and highly respected charity supporting autistic people and their families. We provide a wide range of services across the Wirral and beyond – from residential and supported living to day services and family support – all built around a belief in respect, inclusion, and empowerment.

We’re proud of our strong values, our dedicated workforce of over 950 colleagues, and our commitment to providing person-centred support that makes a genuine difference every day.

The Opportunity
As our new Head of IT, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring that technology continues to underpin and enable our services – helping colleagues to work efficiently, securely, and collaboratively across the organisation.

This is a hands-on, business-as-usual leadership role rather than a large-scale transformation brief, and it offers an excellent opportunity for someone ready to step into their first senior IT position. You’ll lead a capable and collaborative team of five, including a Deputy Head of IT, Power BI specialist, and two apprentices, fostering a culture of innovation, service and continuous improvement.

Operating within a Microsoft 365 and Cloud-based environment, you’ll ensure our systems are reliable, cost-effective and compliant, while developing and delivering an IT strategy that reflects both our operational needs and our charitable purpose.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operation of the IT function, ensuring systems are robust, secure and user-focused.
  • Maintain and enhance our Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation, embedding best practice across the organisation.
  • Deliver and evolve the IT strategy, working collaboratively with the Executive Team to ensure technology supports our wider goals.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a small but skilled IT team, encouraging innovation and professional growth.
  • Champion the use of Power BI and data-led insight to improve efficiency and decision-making.
Manage IT budgets, suppliers and contracts to ensure value for money and effective service delivery.
  • Support and strengthen digital confidence and cyber awareness across the organisation.

About You
We’re looking for a people-centred IT leader who combines technical know-how with empathy, pragmatism and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels.

You may be an experienced IT Manager ready to take the next step into a Head of IT position, or a current Head of IT seeking a role where you can make a tangible difference in a purposeful organisation.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Cloud environments.
  • Experience managing IT operations, infrastructure and cyber security.
  • The ability to balance hands-on technical oversight with strategic thinking.
  • A collaborative and coaching leadership style, with a focus on developing people.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and enthusiasm for innovation.
  • An understanding of the charity, care or wider public sector would be helpful, but isn’t essential.

Why Join Us?

At Autism Together, you’ll be joining an organisation that truly values its people. You’ll have the freedom to shape how technology supports our mission and the opportunity to make a visible impact in a charity with a strong sense of purpose and community.

We offer flexible working arrangements, a supportive culture and a leadership team that values new ideas and continuous learning.

How to Apply

To apply, please submit your CV and a covering letter outlining how your experience aligns with this role. We will be running a rolling process, and therefore advocate that you apply as soon as possible as the advert deadline may be bought forward.

We are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and we welcome applications from all backgrounds.
