In April 2026, new umbrella legislation will come into effect, and in this short piece, we outline what that might mean for interims working alongside Tile Hill. You can read about the exact legislative changes here, and our team is on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Changes to umbrella company regulation
Increased regulation of umbrella companies may have an effect on interim workers currently on assignment and those considering future roles. Namely in the supply chain of umbrella providers that recruitment companies and hiring organisations partner with. The revised legislation is intended to improve transparency around compliance and tackle tax avoidance following on from a government review, all whilst ensuring interim workers understand how they are paid and what deductions apply.

At Tile Hill, we have always operated in advance of HMRC legislation, and as such the revised legislation should have minimal impact on the majority ofexisting interims working with us. However, in response to the legislation and to ensure we are continuing to operate in line with HMRC rules, we have carried out extensive reviews of the umbrella companies we partner with to ensure they meet the standards we expect for compliance, transparency and overall experience.

As part of this, we have agreed a revised Approved Supplier List, aligned to our standards, due diligence processes, evolving legislation and the experience we want for our interim community.

This helps us ensure that the providers we work with:

  • operate transparently
  • meet compliance expectations
  • provide clear payslips and support
  • offer a consistent and positive experience for interim professionals

What this means for our interim community
For most interims working with Tile Hill, the short answer is no immediate change to how you work with us.

You will continue working with the same structures and support you have today.

A small number of interims may be affected where their current umbrella company is not part of the revised Approved Supplier List.

Where this is the case:

  • our operations team will contact you directly
  • we will provide individual support to help you transition if needed
  • we will ensure any change is handled smoothly and without disruption to your assignment

Across our interim population, this affects a small number of people, and we are committed to supporting each of them on a one-to-one basis.

Our commitment to the interim community
Supporting interim professionals is a
core part of what we do.

That means ensuring the way assignments are structured and contracted remains:

  • compliant
  • transparent
  • straightforward for interims

As the regulatory environment evolves, we will continue to review our processes and partnerships to make sure they work in the best interests of our interim community.

We will continue to keep you updated.
