A Retrospective Look at 2023

The pending festivities are always a point of introspection, and the forthcoming break provides a perfect moment to reminisce about the past year. And as I start to do this, the overwhelming feeling is one of pride for how everyone at Tile Hill has shown up and contributed to our mission over the last 12 months.
For those we support within the public sector, we certainly know that it has been an unrelenting year. A year filled with challenges and uncertainty compounded previous years of austerity. However, within this, we are constantly inspired by the positivity of those leading public services. Those who refuse to let adversity be a limitation and those who are spotting opportunities for improving the services we all receive in society. Through our broad vantage point as recruiters supporting the public sector, we've been privy to personal stories of achievement and have witnessed first-hand the impactful changes that driven leadership and enthusiasm can bring about. At Tile Hill, we are proud to work alongside the public sector and proud to support those who work within it.
We also believe strongly in passion and purpose in what we do as recruiters, and we hope that this is felt by everyone who interacts with our business and our teams. Over the last 12 months, we’ve worked hard to find more ways to provide insight and content that will support people as they enter recruitment processes or start to ponder their career options. We’ve run workshops for aspirant leaders across different professions, and we’ve created opportunities to bring sector leaders together to not just share best practices, but to celebrate them. And, as we look forward to 2024, we will continue to shine a light on the unsung heroes, to celebrate the achievements of the sector, and to find new ways to help people fulfil their career ambitions.
2023 has been a year of growth for us, with many new faces joining the team and many new public sector organisations choosing to partner with us. Throughout all of this, we have continued to focus on the quality of experience that people receive when engaging with us, and I am incredibly proud of the fact that in 2023, we’ve been consistently told by over 85% of people that they believe that a Tile Hill process is ‘outstanding’ or better than our direct competitors.
It has also been a year of celebration at Tile Hill, capped off recently at the Recruitment & Employment Confederation Awards. We were honoured to be shortlisted for four awards. Nik Shah won ‘Best Temporary Recruiter’ and Chris Barrow received high commendation for ‘Best Candidate Experience’. Both incredible achievements and a testament to their hard work and dedication, but also the passion and teamwork across the entire business. These accolades are built upon Tile Hill's continued recognition in the annual Institute of Interim Management Survey. Both Dino Christodoulou and Nik Shah were recognised as Leading Consultants, a reflection of the amazing collaboration between teams internally at Tile Hill and especially our operations team.
We are firm believers that it is not just what we do but how we do it that makes a difference, and earlier in the year we were immensely proud to have been nominated for a Culture 50 Award based on the feedback provided by our teams about their experience working at Tile Hill. An underlying principle in establishing Tile Hill has always been to create a positive and inclusive culture where everyone can thrive, and over the last year, it has been a joy to witness the personal and professional growth of our teams.
And as I look to 2024, I’m even more excited for what we can collectively achieve as a team and how we can continue to support the incredible career journeys of those working within the public sector or those who want to enter it. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved in 2023, yet I also know there are things we can continue to improve and more that we could do to help people fulfil their career potential, both those who work at Tile Hill and those we support into senior positions.
For now, thank you to all those who have engaged with and championed Tile Hill in the last 12 months, and we hope you have a relaxing festive period.
