Job Description

It’s an exciting time for us and as the Assistant Director for Transformation & Business Change you will play a strategic and enabling role leading our ambitious change programme which will be key to delivering a new 10-year business plan that is currently being developed.

As an organisation devoted to innovation, we want to transform how we deliver services and that means changing and improving our processes, our systems, our use of digital technology and all the assets we have to deliver those services, including identifying opportunities to maximise these. It also means changing and improving the culture, structure and flexibility of our workforce in delivering services; we want to create a culture which will enable us to absorb, anticipate and adapt to change.

In this role you take the next step to further develop the current programme of change that launched in 2020 to embed the positive learning from the COVID pandemic, recognising that transformation is a permanent feature of the Council, and you will drive continuous improvement in our performance so that we continue to support and build stronger communities and become an outstanding local authority.

You will bring cohesion, purpose and direction through building excellent relationships. You will establish the principles, standards and a framework for an ongoing programme of transformation and change across the Council and will lead the development and delivery of this programme.

You will be a catalyst for strategic transformation and change throughout the Council, acting as a central coordination point and link with transformation activity happening across services, ensuring alignment with the business plan and key principles, and preventing siloed approaches or duplication of effort.

You will ensure that transformational change is not only delivered successfully, but also embedded in a sustainable manner and that the Council’s capabilities and operating models are as efficient and effective as possible, being fit-for-purpose in achieving our strategic aims.

This role will be high profile. You’ll be supporting and working collaboratively with the Chief Executive and Corporate Leadership Team to deliver the Council’s aims and objectives. You will also work with Directors and their Heads of Service as they lead their teams through the change process to ensure transformational change is embedded and sustained.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative Council that’s always ready to embrace new ideas. Wiltshire Council is a constantly developing organisation and we always encourage our people to find new ways to tackle old issues. Join us and help to make Wiltshire even better!
