Strategic Director of Housing, Property & Community Safety

We’re looking for a forward-thinking individual to ensure that housing and community safety in Basildon contributes effectively to healthy communities, a proud local environment, and a thriving economy. As our Strategic Director of Housing, Property & Community Safety, you’ll provide strong leadership for our housing-related services, from Tenancy & Estates and Asset Management to Homelessness and Housing Allocations.
  
We’re looking for someone who can help transform our social housing services and ensure they provide a much-needed safety net for our communities. There are also other challenges around rent arrears, estates and property repairs, temporary accommodation, and tenant relations – and we need an innovative, collaborative and creative individual who’s ready to lead transformative change in the directorate. 
  
You’ll need good experience and knowledge of the service areas above, but ultimately, we’re looking for someone with fresh ideas, strategic know-how and a willingness to try new things. You’ll need to be outward-focused, engaged with relevant national bodies, networked into strategic circles, and always scanning the horizon for new opportunities. While challenging, this is an incredibly rewarding role that delivers tangible outcomes for the people of Basildon.
