The West Yorkshire Pension Fund (WYPF) is a local government pension scheme, founded in 1974. The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council is the administering authority for the fund. At the end of March 2020, WYPF had 294,447 members and 451 employers. Although we are based in West Yorkshire, the fund serves a range of different employers across the nation and we have big plans for our future growth.
  
Following a review of WYPF’s organisational and pay structure for investment and administrative staff, in 2020 we began to implement our new people structure. As a result, the brand new role of Deputy Director Investments has been created to lead the investment team and drive growth and diversification across our £15,000m portfolio.
  
Reporting to the Director of WYPF, as Deputy Director you will be a key ambassador for the fund and lead on managing several key relationships, including close collaboration with our Northern Pool partners in Merseyside and Greater Manchester, to continue pooling our assets to achieve greater cost efficiencies on investments.
  
With relevant investment or financial qualifications or equivalent experience, you will have a strong understanding of the national and international investment markets and use your expertise to strengthen and further diversify our investments portfolio, including alternative investments. As Deputy Director, you will lead the development of our environmental, social and governance policies to maintain our reputation in this field, ensuring the WYPF portfolio develops to become more ecological and green, investing in alternative assets as we continue our journey in reducing our reliance on harmful fossil fuels.
  
A strong leader of people, you’ll build capacity within our in-house Investments team to ensure the right resources are in place to support future growth for the fund, working closely alongside key stakeholders, including external partners, Elected Members, board members and committee members to ensure our strategic goals are met.
