Walsall Council is investing in a new, integrated commissioning model that puts people and place at the heart of service design. As part of this transformation, we’re recruiting a Head of Commissioning – Age Well to lead commissioning for older adults, including residential, nursing, and community care, as well as quality improvement and workforce development across the independent sector.
 
This is a strategic leadership role, working closely with partners across health, housing, and the voluntary sector to deliver high quality, person centred support that promotes independence and wellbeing.
 
What You’ll Do
  • Lead commissioning for older people’s services, including residential and nursing care.
  • Drive quality assurance and workforce development across the independent sector.
  • Analyse data and market capacity to inform future service models.
  • Develop services that promote early help, prevention, and community support.
  • Collaborate across sectors to deliver integrated, impactful support.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement.

We’re seeking a strategic, collaborative leader with:

  • Proven experience in commissioning for older adults and complex care.
  • Strong understanding of partnership working and community development.
  • Ability to lead transformation and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Commercial acumen and a focus on value for money.
  • A commitment to inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement.
